Program Overview

Introduction to the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship

The Department of Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School has introduced an ACGME-accredited fellowship program in Allergy and Immunology. This program is designed to provide hands-on clinical experience, translational research experience, and didactics to develop the next generation of leaders in clinical care, research, and education.

Program Overview

The Allergy and Immunology Fellowship program has received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) for a maximum of four fellows. The program will welcome its first two fellows on July 1 and plans to grow its breadth and scope in the coming years.

Program Director and Faculty

The program director is Dr. Ekta Perera, and the program has a comprehensive curriculum, hands-on experience, and dedicated mentorship. The Division of Allergy and Immunology now includes five faculty members, and the addition of this ACGME fellowship is part of the larger growth strategy of the division.

Curriculum and Research

The fellowship program will provide a comprehensive curriculum, including hands-on clinical experience, translational research experience, and didactics. The program is designed to develop the next generation of leaders in clinical care, research, and education, and to support the growth of fellows through their training.

The Allergy and Immunology Fellowship program is ACGME-accredited, and it is the second such fellowship program in Houston.
