Program Overview
Clinical Laboratory Sciences
The Clinical Laboratory Sciences program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become a Medical Laboratory Scientist. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, one becomes a behind-the-scenes detective in the health care industry, accurately and precisely performing laboratory procedures to provide crucial information in diagnosing, preventing, and treating diseases.
Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences
Upon graduation, students earn a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences. As a graduate of this program, one is eligible for national certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (also known as Medical Technologist). Several states require a license to practice and may require graduates to take an additional examination. Note that Texas does not currently require a license to practice.
Accreditation and Program Outcomes
The program has received the maximum allowed NAACLS accreditation of 10 years in 2017.
