PGY1 & PGY2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency

The PGY1/PGY2 combined Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) Residency at UTMB Health is a two-year ASHP pre-candidate program of training and experience based upon the ASHP Accreditation Standard for Pharmacy Residency Programs, including the ASHP Required Competency Areas, Goals, and Objectives for PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency and the ASHP Required Competency Areas, Goals, and Objectives for PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency Programs 2022.


Purpose Statement

  • PGY1 Program Purpose: PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, and eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
  • PGY2 Program Purpose: The PGY2 year of the HSPAL residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education PGY1 pharmacy residency to prepare the residents who can assume high-level pharmacy practice managerial, supervisory, and leadership responsibilities.

Benefits

  • Office: Each resident will have a dedicated space within the dedicated resident office. Residents will also be assigned a computer and personal pager.
  • Salary: PGY1: $57,000/year, PGY2: $60,000
  • Time Off: 10 holidays + Residents will accrue PTO throughout the residency year and are allowed to take a total of 10 days of PTO (PTO includes sick days)
  • Conference/Meetings: Financial Support is offered for the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and Alcalde Southwest Leadership Conference
  • Insurance: Medical insurance is provided to all full-time employees at no additional cost. Dental and vision plans are available.
