TRIO Student Support Services is a program dedicated to promoting academic and personal growth through comprehensive support and genuine care. The program is designed to provide personalized, long-term support to first-generation college students, low-income students, and students with disabilities.

History and Background
TRIO programs were established as part of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964, with the goal of addressing systemic barriers to higher education. Today, TRIO encompasses three core services: SSS, Upward Bound, and Talent Search, serving students from middle school through college graduation.
Program Details
TRIO-SSS is 100% funded by the U.S. Department of Education, with 15 programs in Montana and nearly 1200 across the U.S. and its territories. The program serves 375 students annually at the University of Montana, with a federal grant of $504,749.
