Program Overview
University of Montana Concert Band Festival
The University of Montana Concert Band Festival is a stimulating and enriching experience in an educational atmosphere. The festival provides an opportunity for bands to perform and receive feedback from top educators in the profession.
Festival Details
- Date: February 23-24, 2026
- Location: Dennison Theatre, University of Montana
- Participation: Over 100 bands from 50 schools from four states have attended since 2008, with over 90% of schools returning the following year
Format
- 30-minute performance block, streamed with audio and video recording
- 30-minute clinic block with guest clinicians after performance, including audio recording
- 45-minute performance by the UM Symphonic Wind Ensemble at 1:00 p.m. both days
Application and Registration
- Application basis: First come, first served up to 24 ensembles
- Registration fee: $300 per ensemble
- Payment due date: Friday, February 13, 2026
Guest Clinicians
Dr. Roger Wufu
Dr. Roger Wufu is a Taiwanese American conductor, educator, and musician. He has experience working with musicians from elementary to professional settings and is passionate about illuminating the importance of music's role in the classroom, concert hall, and the world at large.
Dr. Corey Jahlas
Dr. Corey Jahlas is the Interim Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Washington. He has served as Associate Director of Athletic Bands and director of the wind ensemble at Seattle Pacific University. Dr. Jahlas has also been a doctoral teaching assistant with the UW Bands and has conducted the UW Concert Band.
