Program Overview


Program Overview

The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology, blood collection procedures, specimen hands-on practice, and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. The program prepares students to take the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam.

Program Format

The program has a flexible and affordable format, with course dates available in the fall and spring cohorts.


Course Dates

  • Fall cohort: begins mid to late September
  • Spring cohort: begins late February to early March

Classroom Instruction

  • 90 instructional hours
  • Schedule:
    • 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Tuesday and Thursday
    • 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, (3) Saturday

Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Exam

  • Exam dates:
    • Fall: December (TBD)
    • Spring: late May (TBD)

Program Cost

The program cost is $2,260 per participant, due one week prior to the class start date. The cost includes:

Requirements

Students are required to bring:


  • A steno notebook
  • Pen
  • Pencil
  • Highlighter
  • Scrubs
  • A watch with a second hand

Refund Policy

  • 100% course refund before payment due date
  • 75% refund between payment date and course start date
  • No refund after course start date

Application Requirements

Age and Education

  • 18 years of age or over
  • Must have a high school diploma from an accredited high school, high school equivalency diploma (GED or HiSET), or qualifying Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) scores

General Requirements

  • Must have a photo ID
  • Must have a personal email account which can be accessed frequently
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Background Check

  • Cost: $20.00
  • Payment method: eCheck, credit card, or debit card
  • Background check results must be printed and attached to the program application within 14 days of payment

Vaccination Records

  • Record of TB test results (within past year)
  • Record of Tdap vaccination
