Certificate in Trauma Studies
The Certificate in Trauma Studies is a 15-credit, graduate-level program that offers a streamlined approach to supporting professional development and integration. After completion, participants will:
- Recognize the prevalence of all types of trauma on populations they serve
- Realize the impacts of traumatic experiences on individuals, families, organizations, systems of care, and communities
- Develop and utilize a trauma lens to conceptualize and operationalize the ability to respond using trauma-informed principles and support individuals, families, organizations, systems of care, and communities as a non-mental health professional
- Enhance understanding of trauma screening, assessment, empirically supported issues, and/or population-specific treatments and interventions that have been developed to heal from trauma
- Build competence to mitigate the impacts of secondary trauma
Program Admission
Students currently enrolled in a Counseling Graduate Program interested in the Certificate in Trauma Studies should contact their academic advisor to add the program to their transcript. Students not currently enrolled in a Counseling Graduate Program interested in the Certificate in Trauma Studies must complete the Online Application to the Graduate School.
