The Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) is a comprehensive double degree program designed to equip students with a deep understanding of psychological principles and human resource management practices. This program is tailored to meet the needs of students who aspire to work in roles that require a strong foundation in both psychology and business.

Normal Course Duration

The normal course duration for the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) is:


  • Full-time: 4.0 years (8.0 sessions)
  • Part-time: 8.0 years (16.0 sessions) Students have the flexibility to include subjects offered in Session 3 in their enrollment as desired. The normal course duration is the effective period of time taken to complete a course when studied full-time. It is advisable for students to consult the Enrolment Pattern for the actual length of study, as not all courses are offered in full-time mode.

Admission Criteria

Applicants for the Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)/Bachelor of Business (HRM) must meet the following admission requirements:


  • A completed High School Certificate (or equivalent) with an ATAR of 70 (including adjustment factors)
  • Or successful completion of two university-level subjects in any discipline area
  • Or a completed Vocational Education and Training (VET) Certificate IV or higher, studied at a TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO), or equivalent
  • Or a completed Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC) or bridging program studied at a TAFE, Registered Training Organisation (RTO), or University, or equivalent
  • Or partial completion of a Vocational Education and Training (VET) Diploma, of at least 50% from a TAFE or Registered Training Organisation (RTO), or equivalent

English Language Proficiency

An Academic IELTS with a minimum score of 6 with no individual score below 5.5 or a qualification deemed by the university to be equivalent is required.


Credit

No special arrangements apply for credit in this program.


Graduation Requirement

To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 256 points.


Course Structure

The Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology)/Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) is a four-year degree comprising 32 subjects:


  • A minimum of 13 core psychology subjects (8 points each)
  • 1 Psychology elective (8 points)
  • 2 core Sociology subjects (8 points each)
  • 16 core Business subjects (8 points each)

Professional Accreditation

The Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) is currently accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a three-year sequence of study in Psychology. Graduates of this course may apply for admission to a fourth-year course in psychology to meet the requirements for provisional registration as a Psychologist. The Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) degree is accredited by the Australian Human Resource Institute (AHRI).
