Program Overview

The Master of Clinical Psychology includes the following awards: Master of Clinical Psychology (MClinPsych) and Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology (PostgradDipClinPsych).

Normal Course Duration

  • The normal course duration for the Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology is:
    • Full-time: 1.5 years (3.0 sessions)
    • Part-time: 3.0 years (6.0 sessions)
  • The normal course duration for the Master of Clinical Psychology is:
    • Full-time: 2.0 years (4.0 sessions)
    • Part-time: 4.0 years (8.0 sessions)

Admission Criteria

Applicants must possess:


  • Personal suitability to undertake professional practice as a psychologist
  • A four-year APAC-accredited qualification in psychology at Honours 2A level or better (or an equivalent qualification)
  • Full registration as a psychologist

Articulation

The Master and Postgraduate Diploma make up an articulated set of courses, and credit is given in each higher-level course for the subjects completed in the lower.


Graduation Requirement

  • To graduate from the Master of Clinical Psychology, students must satisfactorily complete 128 points.
  • To graduate from the Postgraduate Diploma of Clinical Psychology, students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.

Professional Accreditation

The Master of Clinical Psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council as a fifth and sixth year course in psychology and is approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.
