Graduate Diploma of Ethics and Legal Studies
The Graduate Diploma of Ethics and Legal Studies is a postgraduate program that equips students with a comprehensive understanding of ethical theory, Australian law, and legal systems, as well as the intersection of law, ethics, and human rights.
Course Structure
The program consists of core subjects and restricted electives. The core subjects include:
- PHL402 Ethical Theory
- LAW540 Australian Law and Legal System
- PHL502 Law, Ethics and Human Rights Plus five restricted electives, with at least two chosen from List A and at least two chosen from List B.
Admission Criteria
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the CSU Admission Policy requirements, which include:
- A Bachelor degree, or
- A TAFE Diploma/Certificates and/or work history that demonstrates holding a senior position, demonstrating relevant work experience.
Credit and Articulation
The program is part of an articulated set of courses, which includes the Master, Graduate Diploma, and Graduate Certificate. Credit is given in each higher-level course for subjects completed in the lower-level courses. No special credit arrangements apply, as per the CSU Credit Policy.
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points.
Availability and Duration
The Graduate Diploma of Ethics and Legal Studies is available online, with a normal course duration of:
- 1.0 year (2.0 sessions) for full-time study, or
- 2.0 years (4.0 sessions) for part-time study.
