The Master of Terrorism and Security Studies is a comprehensive program that includes the following awards: Master of Terrorism and Security Studies (MTerrorism&SecurityStud).
Availability
The program is available in two modes:
- On Campus: Canberra

Normal Course Duration
The normal course duration for the Master of Terrorism and Security Studies is:
- Full-time: 1.5 years (3.0 sessions)
- Part-time: 3.0 years (6.0 sessions)
Admission Criteria
The admission criteria for the Master of Terrorism and Security Studies are outlined in the CSU Admission Policy. To be eligible, applicants must have:
- An undergraduate degree or
- Relevant industry experience
Credit
The program adheres to the CSU Credit Policy. Students who have completed the following may be eligible for credit:
- Graduate Certificate in Terrorism and Security Studies (GPM417 and GPM418)
- Graduate Diploma of Terrorism and Security Studies (GPM417, GPM418, and GPM510)
Graduation Requirement
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 96 points.
Course Structure
The Master of Terrorism and Security Studies consists of 96 credit points. Students must complete:
- At least three 16-point subjects from:
- GPM417 The History of Terrorism (16 points)
- GPM418 Contemporary Terrorism (16 points)
- GPM508 Radicalisation (16 points)
- GPM514 Counter Terrorism (16 points)
- And at least two 8-point subjects from:
- GPM510 Terrorism in Cyberspace (8 points)
- GPM426 Terrorist Financing and Resourcing (8 points)
- GPM513 Illicit Network Analysis (8 points)
- Any postgraduate subject offered at CSU
Enrolment Pattern
The recommended enrolment pattern for part-time students is:
- Session 5: GPM417 The History of Terrorism (16 points) or GPM418 Contemporary Terrorism (16 points) or GPM508 Radicalisation (16 points) or GPM514 Counter Terrorism (16 points)
- Session 6: GPM510 Terrorism in Cyberspace (8 points) or GPM426 Terrorist Financing and Resourcing (8 points) or GPM513 Illicit Network Analysis (8 points) and 1 x 8-point postgraduate elective subject if required
