Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Industry Entry Program
The Bachelor of Education (Secondary) Industry Entry Program is a course designed for individuals with industry experience who wish to become secondary school teachers. Course Structure
The course consists of 264 points and is typically completed over 4.125 years of full-time study or 8.25 years of part-time study. Students enter the program with a credit package equivalent to 72 or 88 credit points, depending on their prior qualifications and experience.
Admission Criteria
Admission to the program is based on a range of criteria, including prior study, industry experience, and English language proficiency. Applicants must meet the requirements for their chosen teaching area, which may include:
- Technology and Applied Studies: a TAFE Associate Diploma or Diploma in a relevant field, plus five years of recent industry experience
- Mathematics: a degree with a major in mathematics, plus one year of recent industry experience
- English: a degree with a major in English, plus one year of recent industry experience
- Science: a degree with a major in science, plus one year of recent industry experience
- HSIE: a degree with a major in a relevant field, plus one year of recent industry experience
Credit
Students may be eligible for credit based on their prior study or industry experience. The credit package is determined by the admission criteria and may include:
- 72 or 88 subject points for students with a TAFE Associate Diploma or Diploma
- 72 or 88 subject points for students with a degree in a relevant field
Graduation Requirements
To graduate, students must satisfactorily complete 264 points, including all required subjects and a minimum of six discipline subjects related to their teaching area.

- Mathematics: subjects such as pure and applied mathematics, algebra, and calculus
- English: subjects such as literary theory, creative writing, and linguistics
- Science: subjects such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth and environmental science
- HSIE: subjects such as modern history, geography, business studies, and economics
