Master of Ministry Program

The Master of Ministry program includes the Master of Ministry and the Graduate Diploma of Ministry.


Award Names and Availability

The course includes the following awards:


  • Graduate Diploma of Ministry (GradDipMin)
  • Master of Ministry (MMin) Availability is subject to change, and students are advised to verify prior to enrolment.

Duration and Admission

  • Normal course duration for the Master of Ministry:
    • Full-time: 1.5 years (3.0 sessions)
    • Part-time: 3.0 years (6.0 sessions)
  • Normal course duration for the Graduate Diploma of Ministry:
    • Full-time: 1.0 years (2.0 sessions)
    • Part-time: 2.0 years (4.0 sessions) Admission criteria for the Master of Ministry require candidates to:
  • Have an undergraduate degree in Theology from a recognised Australian university or equivalent
  • Hold the Graduate Diploma of Theology with a Credit average or higher
  • Have at least two years of full-time professional experience in ministry

Credit and Articulation

  • Up to 16 points of Transfer Credit towards General Electives may be granted for the completion of either an Advanced Unit of Clinical Pastoral Education or the Graduate Certificate in Supervision
  • The Master and Graduate Diploma make up an articulated set of courses, with credit given in each higher level course for subjects completed in the lower level course

Graduation Requirements

  • To graduate with the Master of Ministry, students must satisfactorily complete 96 points
  • To graduate with the Graduate Diploma of Ministry, students must satisfactorily complete 64 points

Graduate Diploma of Ministry

The degree comprises:


  • One Core subject (16 points): MIN500 Foundations of Church Ministry
  • Restricted Electives (32 points) chosen from one of the following fields of study:
    • Research in Ministry
    • Pastoral Counselling
    • Chaplaincy
    • Mission and Leadership
    • Religious and Values Education
  • Either General Electives (16 points) or MIN501 Guided Research in Ministry (16 points)
