DOH343 Endodontics
This subject will give students an introduction to and opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in the management of simple dental endodontics, incorporating diagnosis, treatment planning and post-operative follow up. The subject will emphasise an evidence-based approach to the management of the patients endodontic requirement in the context of their overall dental and systemic health. This approach should be logical, sequential and efficacious.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Be able to apply the knowledge and skill for gaining a level of competency suitable for patient treatment in all stages of root canal therapy of teeth with single, double and multiple canals with the correct use of digital radiography, endodontic materials, instruments, contemporary technology and with complying to the health and safety requirements as stipulated by school policy in a simulated clinic environment.
- Be able to explain and analyse the principles related to the management of a patient related to simple endodontic treatment from diagnosis to treatment planning with an evidence-based approach to the management of the patient's endodontic requirement in the context of their overall dental and systemic health.
- Be able to demonstrate a philosophy of patient management utilising health of the patient as the core criteria.
- Be able to develop the clinical skills and manual dexterity required to deliver a high level of treatment.
