Introduction to DOH414 Oral Surgery

In this subject, students will continue to develop competencies in a range of minor oral surgical procedures. Students will continue to master their knowledge and skills in simple exodontia. This subject will also include a study of the role and application of therapeutics in patient care. Part of the subject will include introductory concepts in surgical aspects of implant dentistry.

• demonstrate the knowledge and clinical application of endodontic periradicular microsurgery
• demonstrate developing knowledge and continuing development of skills relevant to the provision of simple safe local anaesthesia
• demonstrate continued development of clinical competence relevant to the management of simple dental extractions
• demonstrate the ability to apply dental therapeutics competently within the clinical setting
• demonstrate foundation knowledge in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning for surgical aspects of implant dentistry
