Program Overview


Program Overview

The DOH416 Prosthodontics 2 subject is a continuation of Prosthodontics 1, designed to provide students with the skills necessary to deliver complex and comprehensive clinical care in Prosthodontics. This includes restoration of endodontically treated teeth, covering clinical examination, diagnosis, treatment planning, and management of such cases at an advanced level.


Subject Outlines

Students will continue to develop their clinical and pre-clinical laboratory skills required to treat patients with complete/partial removable prosthodontic and partial fixed prosthodontic needs.

  • Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills required in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning of advanced prosthodontic cases
  • Demonstrate current scientific evidence-based knowledge of the applied dental material science in prosthodontic practice
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the clinical and laboratory stages in the construction of complete and partial removable dental prostheses
  • Demonstrate laboratory skills in removable prosthodontics at an advanced level and pre-clinical practical simulation skills involved in the preparation of multiple-unit partial fixed dental prostheses
  • Demonstrate an understanding of simple concepts in Implant Dentistry and knowledge of the clinical parameters involved in the examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning of cases requiring dental implant-based prosthodontic treatment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the clinical and laboratory stages in the fabrication of simple partial fixed dental prostheses

  • Clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning of advanced prosthodontic cases
  • Applied dental materials in prosthodontics
  • The clinical stages in the fabrication of simple partial fixed dental prostheses
  • The clinical and laboratory stages in the construction of complete and partial removable dental prostheses
  • The laboratory techniques to repair or modify removable dental prostheses
  • The clinical and laboratory stages in the fabrication of partial fixed provisional restorations
  • Clinical and laboratory stages in the construction of mouthguards and different types of occlusal splints
  • Concepts in implant dentistry
  • Clinical examination, diagnosis, and treatment planning in implant dentistry
  • Hands-on exercises in the simulation clinic related to dental implant prosthodontics
