The GER102 Gerontology Theory and Research program is designed to provide an introduction to selected concepts and theories from biology, sociology, and psychology that have been applied to the study of ageing.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this program, students should be able to:

• demonstrate an understanding of biological theories of ageing

• evaluate the contribution of different disciplines to an understanding of the ageing experience
• describe the research process and basic research principles
• outline several different approaches to research
• formulate a research proposal.

The program is available in Session 2, with 60 spots available. It is offered online and at the Albury-Wodonga Campus.

Program Details

The program aims to provide an overview of research in gerontology and offers experiential learning in formulating a research proposal. The relevance to practice of a sound grounding in theoretical knowledge in gerontology and the multi-disciplinary nature of that knowledge are discussed.
