Program Overview

BMS511 Processes of Pathology

This subject addresses the scientific basis of human disease with a specific focus on the underlying processes that cause cell, tissue, and organ dysfunction and how this impacts on comorbidities. The subject will place these changes in the context of the interrelationships between body systems and the impact of lifestyle and other external factors on disease processes. Morphological and functional changes will be related to routine pathological investigations as it applies to patient care. The application of this understanding will add to the students' knowledge base to develop diagnostic reasoning abilities.
