ESC515 Classroom Technologies
This subject explores pedagogies associated with classroom use of Interactive Whiteboards, Laptops, Mobile Devices, and other emerging and specialised classroom technologies. As well as providing guidance on effective use of such technologies across a range of educational contexts and curriculum areas, the subject also includes coverage of pertinent classroom management, ethical, and legal issues.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- Describe and critique theoretical and practical frameworks for exploring and evaluating the educational value and affordances of technologies for learning in a classroom;
- Critically analyse the learning requirements of a specific classroom context and design a program of work involving the effective use of selected classroom technologies in this context;
- Articulate a personal view on the role of technology in the learning process, and, drawing on this, evaluate the likely effectiveness of classroom technologies within a particular classroom context;
- Describe the characteristics of a range of classroom technologies, including, but not limited to: Interactive Whiteboards, Laptops, and Mobile Devices;
- Demonstrate effective use of classroom technologies;
- Effectively locate and evaluate digital resources for use with particular classroom technologies;
- Identify and resolve ethical and legal issues associated with the use of classroom technologies;
- Describe the classroom management issues involved in the effective use of a range of technologies in the classroom; and
- Reflect on their prior experiences with the use of technologies in the classroom, reflect on successful and unsuccessful strategies, and synthesise general principles applying to the use of contemporary and future classroom technologies.
