This subject is available only to students enrolled in an appropriate Master by research degree in the School of Environmental Sciences with the approval of the Research Advisory Committee.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate an advanced level body of knowledge in the relevant field and a capacity to critically reflect on that knowledge and its application/s
- Develop a research hypothesis or question that is soundly embedded in the context of the current body of knowledge in the field
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of research principles and methods applicable to their field of research
- Demonstrate cognitive, technical, and creative skills to investigate, analyse, and synthesise complex information, problems, and concepts and theorise and apply established theories to different bodies of knowledge and practice
- Disseminate their research via a range of media and be able to coherently defend their work to specialist and non-specialist audiences
- Apply knowledge and skills to plan and execute a piece of research that generates a substantial contribution to the field in the form of a research thesis
