Syllabus

This subject will cover the following topics:


  • Operational policing: shift preparation, undertaking patrols/environmental scanning, operational safety, responding to incidents, information gathering, collating and recording
  • At-arrest and non-arrest powers
  • Investigation and Brief of Evidence preparation
  • Targeted crime prevention
  • Engaging with partners
  • Emergency management
  • Fostering resilience and assuming a leadership role

Workplace Learning

This subject contains a 36-day Compulsory Workplace Learning component, where students engage in policing duties in the capacity of a Probationary Constable. Students will be assessed on their application of skills through an Operational Portfolio and will work approximately 36 hours per week over a 12-week period.
