This subject will cover the following topics:
- Determinants of health, perceptions of oral health, oral health promotion, planning oral health promotion
- Health communication and health literacy
- Cultural perspectives of health and oral health
- Oral health advocacy
- Introduction to public health knowledge
- Effective preventive measures at individual, community, and population level
- The role of the oral health practitioner in improving health outcome
- Models of behavior change
Workplace Learning
This subject contains a 5-day compulsory workplace learning component, where students will engage effectively in groups with a chosen high-need community group to plan and develop oral health promotion activities.
