EEL523 Enhancing The Skilful Higher Education Teacher
This subject recognises that participants have undertaken different pathways through the course that focus on their own learning needs and context. It comprises three interconnected elements that support participants to:
- integrate and synthesise their learning in the course as a whole,
- demonstrate the course learning outcomes and requirements for Higher Education Academy (HEA) Fellow,
- gain skills to continue their professional development and learning in the workplace and take on educational leadership roles.

Enrolment Restrictions
This subject is restricted to academic, divisional and vocational education staff who are currently engaged in learning and teaching in higher education contexts.
Assumed Knowledge
Students are required to have a background in teaching and learning acquired through EEL516, and EEL521 (or equivalent), that supports their capacity to develop a professional development plan and to research their teaching.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject, students should:
- be able to analyse their individual professional learning and development priorities,
- be able to develop and implement plans and actions in pursuit of their development priorities, and evaluate the outcomes of such actions,
- be able to reflect on their learning and their opportunities to undertake an educational leadership and mentoring role in their professional workplace.
