Program Overview


Parks and Recreation Management, M.S.

The M.S. in Parks and Recreation Management requires 30 credit hours for the Community Recreation Management Concentration and 36-39 credit hours for the Recreational Therapy Concentration.


Overview

The student, after discussing career goals with his/her advisor, may choose either the thesis or non-thesis option. If the student selects the non-thesis option, the advisor will determine (based on amount of professional experience) whether the student completes a project, an internship, or a combination of a project and an internship.

Recreational Therapy Concentration

    • Students in the Recreational Therapy concentration who do not have an undergraduate degree in recreational therapy will be required to take one of the following two courses at the undergraduate level: CTR 231 Introduction to Recreational Therapy or CTR 235 Disabling Conditions and Recreational Therapy.

Accelerated B.S. in Recreation and Parks Management to M.S. in Parks and Recreation Management

Application and Admission

Qualified UNC Greensboro undergraduate students who are pursuing the B.S. in Recreation and Parks Management may be nominated to participate in the Accelerated Master's Program (AMP) by the Graduate Program Director. Students must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours with at least 30 credits and a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.5 at UNC Greensboro.

Admitted students may apply a maximum of 12 credits of graduate-level course work (each course carries 3 credits) from the following course list toward completion of both the undergraduate and graduate degree, provided that they earn a grade of B (3.0) or better in each course and fulfill graduate-level requirements:
