Program Overview


Global Honors Experiences

The Lloyd International Honors College offers Global Honors Experiences, which encourage students to grow both academically and personally, inside and outside the classroom. Through these experiences, students can tailor their Honors journey by choosing opportunities that align with their personal interests and college goals.


Requirements

Students must earn at least 100 points through approved Global Honors Experiences. The points can be earned by participating in various activities, such as:


  • MLK Day of Service (5 points)
  • Honors Programs (5 points per program)
  • Honors Presentations (5 points per presentation)
  • Honors Lectures (5 points per lecture)
  • Attend a Let's Learn! session (5 points)
  • Attend an Honors Symposium session (5 points)
  • Volunteer for the URSCO Expo (5 points)
  • Serve as an Honors Colloquium Connector (5 points per class session)
  • Conference attendance (5 points per conference)
  • Spartan Spears (5 points per semester)
  • Safe/Trans Zone Training (10 points for 2 sessions)
  • Honors Ambassadors (10 points per year)
  • Honors Symposium or on-campus conference presentation (10 points)
  • Honors trips (10 points for NY or DC trips)
  • Joining the executive board of a club or society (10 points per year)
  • Serving as chair or co-chair of a Residential College committee or club (10 points per year)
  • Serving as Residential College Community Mentor (10 points per year)
  • Becoming a Peer Educator with the Office of Intercultural Engagement (10 points per year)
  • Becoming a Peer Academic Leader with First-Year Experience (10 points per year)
  • Student submission There Be Dragons study abroad blog (10 points)
  • Spartans in Dialogue (15 points for 5 weeks)
  • Bronze Level Leadership Challenge (15 points for 5 weeks)
  • Civic Engagement Fellows Civic Engagement Academy (15 points)
  • State or National Honors conference presentation (15 points)
  • 20 hours of community service completed on campus or within the city of Greensboro (20 points)
  • 20 hours internship experience (20 points)
  • Discipline-specific, off-campus state or national conference presentation (20 points)
  • Complete a capstone research project in your major (20 points, must receive a grade of B or higher)
  • Additional semester of a foreign language beyond 102 (25 points, must earn a final grade of B or higher)
  • Additional Honors course (25 points, must earn a final grade of B or higher)
  • Alternative Spring Break (25 points)
  • Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (25 points for 1 semester)
  • Student Government Association (25 points for 1 semester)
  • Global Leadership Program (25 points for 1 semester)
  • Short-term study abroad trips (less than 14 days) (30 points)
  • Undergraduate Research Experience (30 points per semester)
  • Silver Level Leadership Challenge (35 points for 2 semesters)
  • Semester of study abroad (50 points for Fall or Spring semester)
  • Approved summer study abroad (50 points)
  • Gold Level Leadership Challenge (50 points for 2 semesters)
  • Pubantz Artist in Residence Program (50 points for 2 semesters)
  • Full year of study abroad (100 points for Fall & Spring semesters)

Submitting Global Honors Experiences

To submit Global Honors Experiences, students must follow these steps:


  1. Decide which type of experience you are submitting: Singular Global Points or Extended Global Points.
  2. Visit the Global Honors Canvas ORG on Canvas.
  3. Go to "Assignments".
  4. Click the appropriate link for submission based on what you are submitting.
  5. Complete the form on InfoReady.

Tracking Progress

Students can track their progress and view the status of their submitted experiences in the Global Honors Canvas Organization. All experiences must be submitted for review during the semester they are completed. Late submissions will not be accepted, and points will be forfeited.
