Program Overview


Introduction to the Master's in Speech-Language Pathology Program

The Master's in Speech-Language Pathology program at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro is designed to meet the 2020 ASHA Certification Standards, as well as all state licensure requirements. The program is offered online and is designed to be completed in 5 semesters.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the program, applicants must have:


  • A minimum bachelor's degree GPA of 3.0
  • Completed all prerequisite coursework prior to enrollment in the Master's in SLP program
  • Submitted three letters of recommendation via CSDCAS, with at least 2 being academic and the 3rd being academic or professional
  • Submitted a Personal Essay via CSDCAS, addressing the applicant's rationale for pursuing an advanced degree in speech-language pathology, choosing the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at UNCG, and unique skills or experiences that will facilitate excellence in graduate study
  • Submitted a resumé via CSDCAS, including education, employment, relevant experiences, honors/awards/recognition, and additional skills

Application Process

To apply, students must:


  1. Complete the CSDCAS application, including submitting transcripts
  2. Complete the short supplemental UNC Greensboro application and pay the associated $65 fee
  3. Submit all application materials, including the completed CSDCAS application, UNC Greensboro's supplemental application, payments for both applications, and transcripts, by January 15th at 11:59 PM EST

Program Length and Cost

The program is designed to be completed in 5 semesters, with a total of 66 credit hours. Tuition and fees for all degree programs at UNCG are determined by the university.


Graduate Assistant Positions

Graduate Assistant positions are offered based on availability of funds. Students are not required to complete a separate application to be considered for available Graduate Assistant positions.


International Students

International applicants must have their overseas credentials evaluated and successfully complete the TOEFL. Additional information about these requirements can be found through International Admissions.


Online Program Location

At this time, the program is only able to accept online program students who are available to complete their coursework and placements while living in the US.


Transfer Credits

The program does not accept transfer students or transfer credits. Accepted students must complete the entire curriculum of courses outlined in the program Plan of Study.
