Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program

The Postbaccalaureate Research Education Program (PREP) is designed to provide students with research experience and preparation for graduate school.


Program Overview

PREP students may select a research mentor affiliated with any of the 11 graduate programs.


Research

Students in the Basic Biomedical Sciences pathway undertake a year-long laboratory research internship, which includes:


  • Background reading
  • Hypothesis development
  • Design of experiments
  • Learning new laboratory methodologies and instrumentation
  • Data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Research presentations
  • Writing scientific papers Students in the Population Health Sciences pathway are paired with a research mentor and apply their knowledge to ongoing research and an independent project.
