Hematopathology Fellowship Program
The Department of Pathology at the UMass Chan Medical School offers a one-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship program in hematopathology with its clinical partner, UMass Memorial Health Care.
Fellowship Description
The program is designed to provide the trainee with a broad exposure to all aspects of diagnostic hematopathology, including:
- Bone marrow and lymph node pathology
- Peripheral blood and body fluid examination
- General hematology and coagulation
- Flow cytometry
- Immunohistochemistry
- Molecular diagnostics
- Cytogenetics
Approximately 1,600 bone marrows, 300 lymph node specimens, and 2,500 diagnostic flow cytometry cases are examined annually. Fellows are expected to participate in the abundant research opportunities that are available.
Requirements
Candidates should possess an MD degree and be board certified/eligible in:
- Anatomic pathology (AP)
- Clinical pathology (CP)
- Anatomic pathology and clinical pathology (AP/CP) Candidates must have passed Step 3 of the USMLE.

Program Details
