Introduction to the Dermatology Residency Program
The UMass Dermatology Residency Program is designed to provide comprehensive training in dermatology, preparing residents for independent practice or advanced training upon graduation. The program aims to recruit individuals who are curious, compassionate, dedicated, and resilient, with a sustained interest in contributing to their communities and the field of dermatology.

Application Information
The program performs a holistic review of applicants, considering academic performance, community service, leadership, research activities, and personal qualities. Applicants are required to complete the MyERAS application, and participation in the supplemental ERAS application is optional.
Selection Criteria
Selection for an interview is based on:
- Academic performance
- Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in community service, leadership, and/or research activities
- Personal qualities that promote the collegial and dedicated culture of the department
- Unique perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences that enhance the diversity of the department
Interview Process
Interviews are by invitation only, and the program typically interviews approximately 30 applicants. Interviews will be held virtually, and applicants will have the opportunity to meet with residents and faculty members.
Available Positions
The program offers four PGY2 positions in the upcoming match cycle and participates in the NRMP.
