Program Overview
Introduction to the Neuroendovascular Intervention Radiology Fellowship
The Neurointerventional Radiology Division at UMass Memorial has its roots starting in 2006, and since then, the division has grown to include 4 attending physicians, two fellows, and 6 mid-level care providers with a goal of being leaders in Neurointerventional therapy.
Program Director and Faculty
The current Director of the Neuroendovascular Intervention Radiology Fellowship Program is Dr. Jasmeet Singh, who is widely published and has research interests in stroke and flow diversion. The division chief of the Neurointerventional Radiology is Dr. Ajit S. Puri, who has many publications in peer-reviewed journals and is one of the most highly experienced interventionalists in using flow diversion.
Program Goals
The goal of the Neurointerventional Radiology Division of UMass Memorial Health Center is to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art, minimally invasive care to patients with vascular diseases of the brain and spine, including stroke, aneurysm, arteriovenous malformations, vascular stenosis, and spinal abnormalities.
Research
The extensive facilities within the New England Center for Stroke Research provide a variety of opportunities for fellows to participate in basic and translational research in Neurointerventional. The Neurointerventional Radiology Division is actively involved in clinical research with recent participation in over 15 trials and registries.
Conferences
The program includes various conferences, such as:
- An interdisciplinary conference every Tuesday to review imaging and case findings, as well as establish a clinical plan for patients with challenging cerebrovascular disorders.
- Radiology and Neurology Grand Rounds held throughout the year with visiting and local professors.
- A NeuroICU conference every Wednesday afternoon to discuss management of all NeuroICU patients.
- A clinical meeting every Friday morning to discuss the various trials and registries.
- A NECStR research meeting every Friday afternoon to discuss progress of ongoing ventures and potential new projects.
Imaging Facilities and Locations
The facilities include two state-of-the-art angiography suites with flat-panel detector x-ray systems, bi-plane angiographic capabilities, and the capability for 3-dimensional reconstruction angiography (3DRA) and X-per Cone Beam Computed Tomography.

Requirements
Interested applicants must have completed:
- Residency in Diagnostic Radiology and a Neuroradiology Fellowship
- An Independent IR residency or an IR residency with ESIR
- Residency in Neurology and a Vascular Neurology Fellowship
- Residency in Neurosurgery Applicants must be able to obtain a Massachusetts medical license and DEA license.
