Program Overview

The Grad Rebel Ambassadors Program

The Grad Rebel Ambassadors Program is a medallion-qualifying program for UNLV graduate and professional students. The program serves as a vital role in nurturing a vibrant graduate student community and enhancing connections among the College, other campus departments, alumni, and the broader community. Through their involvement and learning opportunities during the program, Grad Rebel Ambassadors develop valuable leadership, communication, and networking skills while advocating for the advancement of graduate education.

Eligibility Requirements

To participate in the program, graduate students must:

  • have completed at least one year of graduate studies at UNLV by program start date
  • currently be enrolled
  • be in good academic standing in a graduate degree program

Application Process

The application process involves submitting a CV or Resume and a letter of interest detailing relevant experience, motivation for becoming a Grad Rebel Ambassador, and unique skills or qualities that would be contributed to the program. After reviewing all applications, the most qualified candidates are invited to participate in an interview, and final selections are made to form a new cohort of Grad Rebel Ambassadors.

Program Requirements

To successfully complete the program and receive benefits, students must fulfill all program requirements, including:

  • Attending 3 cohort meetings with curated learning opportunities
  • Supporting a minimum of 5 campus events by assisting with event operations and student support, sharing experiences as a panelist, networking, and advocating for graduate education
  • Competing in the Rebel Grad Slam 3-Minute Thesis event
  • Attending a networking event
  • Participating in additional optional activities to promote The Grad Academy and graduate education
  • Completing all program surveys

Program Benefits

The program provides an opportunity to help build a strong graduate community at UNLV. Ambassadors engage in professional development, including strengthening leadership, communication, and networking skills. The program enables ambassadors to connect with local community members and to be advocates on behalf of graduate education. Grad Rebel Ambassadors who successfully fulfill their required responsibilities are awarded a $500 program scholarship at the end of each term.

Program Policies

Once admitted, all participants must complete all requirements. If a student is not in good standing in their degree program or creates problems as a participant, they may be removed from the program at the discretion of the graduate college dean.
