The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Nursing School offers a comprehensive nursing program designed to prepare students for a career in nursing.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program FAQs
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at UNLV is a 16-month traditional track that prepares students to take the National Council Licensure Exam-RN (NCLEX-RN).
16-Month Traditional BSN Track (In-Person)
- The program is year-round, with three semesters each year, including a full-time summer program.
- Students are admitted in the Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
- To apply, students must submit an application to UNLV through the Office of Admissions and signify "School of Nursing, Pre-Nursing Major" on the university application form.
- A meeting with an advisor in the Division of Health Sciences Advisement Center is required to discuss required coursework, GPA, and sequencing.
Program Requirements
- Some courses are transferable and must be reviewed by the Health Sciences Advising Center.
- Students from other nursing programs may transfer to UNLV, but this must be approved by the pre-nursing advisor.
- A letter of good standing is required from the student's previous nursing program.
Tuition and Fees
- The program operates on a differential tuition model.
- Students in nursing courses levels 100-200 pay the traditional per-credit fee of the University.
- Students in Nursing courses 300-400 pay an additional $156.75 per credit.

Admission Criteria
- Students are admitted into Pre-Nursing at any semester without a waiting list.
- Students are admitted from Pre-Nursing into the 16-Month Traditional Nursing Track three times per year (spring, summer, and fall) when they meet eligibility requirements.
- Beginning in Fall 2013, students admitted to UNLV must take the SAT or ACT.
NCLEX-RN Pass Rate
- The School of Nursing has a high pass rate for the National Council Licensure Exam-RN (NCLEX-RN).
- Passing the NCLEX-RN is required to practice in the United States.
Program Details
- The School of Nursing does not offer an associate degree for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN).
- Letters of acceptance and denial will be sent to all applicants via email.
- The School of Nursing has a high pass rate for the NCLEX-RN, with a historical list available on the Nevada State Board of Nursing site.
