Undergraduate Degree in English Studies

The Undergraduate Degree in English Studies is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with a deep understanding of the English language, literature, and culture. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue a career in fields such as education, translation, writing, and research.


Admission Profile

To be admitted to this program, students must have a basic humanistic background, as well as a good disposition towards English linguistics, literature, and culture, and for logical and critical reasoning. Prior knowledge of the English language equivalent to at least level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is essential.


Undergraduate Pathways

Admission to this degree course is open to any applicant who meets one of the following entrance requirements:


  • Spanish Baccalaureate University Entrance Exam (PAU)
  • Previous Baccalaureates with or without a pass in the University Entrance Exam (PAU)
  • Vocational Education
  • Students from education systems in countries of the European Union or other states with which Spain has an international agreement
  • Students from foreign education systems
  • University degrees and other similar qualifications
  • University entrance exam for students over 25
  • Access on the basis of professional experience (applicants over 40 years of age)
  • Access to applicants aged 45 years or more by means of an exam

Admission Procedure

The anticipated number of places offered during the first pre-enrolment session is 125. In order to apply for a place, the procedure and pre-enrolment periods established each year must be observed.


Adaptations

The University of Alicante offers adaptations for students with disabilities. The adaptations are made on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the needs of each student.


Credit Recognition and Transfer

The University of Alicante has a credit recognition and transfer policy. Credits obtained in official courses, in the same university or a different one, can be recognized. Accredited work and professional experience can also be recognized in the form of credits.


Transfer of Record for Undergraduate Continuation of Studies

The University of Alicante allows students to transfer their academic record from another university. The transfer of record is subject to the university's regulations and requires the prior admission of the student to the corresponding degree.


  • Credit recognition for undergraduate, master's, and PhD degrees
    • Recognition of credits obtained in official studies according to previous university regulations
    • Recognition of credits obtained from the study programmes in force and non-official degrees
    • Recognition of previous work and/or professional experience
  • Credit transfer
    • Modules, subjects, or subjects transferred to the academic transcript of the new bachelor's degrees will not be taken into account for the calculation of the grade point average
    • Credits from UA-only degrees may, exceptionally, be subject to recognition in a higher percentage or, where appropriate, be subject to recognition in their entirety
  • Recognition of credits in mobility programmes
    • Students who participate in national or international mobility programmes signed by the University of Alicante will obtain full recognition by means of a learning agreement established before their departure
  • Recognition of Higher Level Training Cycle subjects
    • Students with a Higher Level Training Cycle may apply for the recognition of subjects in the Degree as long as they belong to the same branch of knowledge
