Introduction to the Undergraduate Degree in Tourism

The Undergraduate Degree in Tourism is a comprehensive program designed to produce professionals in the field of tourism. The course provides a broad cross-disciplinary education, incorporating diverse scientific and social subjects to train experts capable of assuming a wide range of professional roles.

The basic aim of this course is to respond to current educational needs, ensuring conversance with the tools needed for decision-making in the current context of tourism. The program offers a solid foundation in all areas related to tourism, enabling students to acquire a series of specific proficiencies in the disciplines involved, as well as a range of general skills allowing them to develop their careers in diverse and changing professional environments.


General Objectives

  1. To respond to current educational needs, ensuring conversance with the tools needed for decision-making in the current context of tourism.
  2. To offer a core higher learning, enabling technical specialization and management of tourist companies and institutions.
  3. To address issues crucial to the development of competitive advantages in relation to products and destinations.
  4. To create two specialist profiles, reflecting the key areas of specialization in tourism.
  5. To create the conditions for the development of cross-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary, and interdisciplinary research.

Structure

The Degree in Tourism is structured into modules, with subjects organized into semesters. Students are required to take 5 subjects each semester, completing 30 credits per semester and 60 credits per year, for a total of 240 credits over four years.

  • Work experience: 12 credits

General Description of the Course Programme

The course program includes core subjects, compulsory subjects, optional subjects, work experience, and a final project. The core subjects provide a foundation in areas such as law, business, economics, geography, IT, language, and humanities.


Optional Subjects and Routes

The optional subjects are each worth 6 credits and total 42 credits. They are taught over 4-month terms and follow two routes: one focusing on the Economics of Tourism Companies and the other on Planning and Management of Tourist Destinations.
