Master in Economics with Data Science

Competences

The program aims to equip students with the following competences:


  1. Understand the fundamental theoretical framework of economics at a rigorous formal level.
  2. Deeply understand and apply descriptive, causal, and predictive analysis methods applied to economics.
  3. Critically analyze research articles in Economics, identifying their essential contributions and weaknesses.
  4. Formulate relevant economic problems precisely and provide appropriate solutions using theoretical, empirical, or simulation-based analysis.
  5. Understand how technical problems in research articles have been addressed and be able to replicate the empirical analysis and simulation experiments on which they are based.
  6. Master effective communication of research findings, using clear and precise approaches to convey complex information in an accessible and comprehensible way.
  7. Develop original ideas that help understand or solve economic problems.
  8. Be able to prove propositions and theorems.
  9. Understand and master the fundamental concepts of logic, algorithms, and computational complexity, and their application to problem-solving.
  10. Be able to manage information and resources in the field of data science applied to economics, as well as master the use of specific software for this discipline.
  11. Use techniques and tools for selecting and extracting economic data.
  12. Use data visualization, data mining, and text mining techniques.
  13. Know how to apply data science techniques to real economic problems, both for research and decision-making.
  14. Be able to develop and learn autonomously about topics related to Economics and Data Science.
  15. Know and handle technologies, algorithms, and machine learning tools (both supervised and unsupervised).
