Introduction to the Criminology Program
The Criminology program at the University of Alicante is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system, criminological theories, and research methods. Objectives of the Program
The primary objectives of the Criminology program are to:

Structure of the Program
The Criminology program consists of 240 ECTS credits, distributed over four years. The program is divided into two semesters per year, with 30 ECTS credits per semester. The structure of the program includes:
- Formación Básica (60 ECTS): Provides students with a foundation in criminology, including introductory courses in criminological theories, research methods, and the criminal justice system.
- Materias Obligatorias (138 ECTS): Covers a range of topics, including criminological theories, crime prevention, criminal justice systems, and research methods.
- Materias Optativas (36 ECTS): Allows students to specialize in specific areas of interest, such as security, investigation, or administration of justice.
- Trabajo Fin de Grado (6 ECTS): A final research project that enables students to apply their knowledge and skills to a real-world problem or issue.
Specializations
The program offers three specializations:
- Seguridad Pública: Focuses on public security, including policing, crime prevention, and emergency response.
- Investigación Privada: Emphasizes private investigation, including techniques for gathering and analyzing evidence, and conducting investigations.
- Administración de Justicia: Concentrates on the administration of justice, including the court system, corrections, and rehabilitation.
