Introduction to Hacettepe University Food Engineering Department
The Hacettepe University Food Engineering Department, established in 1976, began graduating students in 1980. Since 1982, the department has been conducting education and research activities in two main branches: Food Science and Food Technology.
Education and Research Activities
The department offers a comprehensive undergraduate program that includes fundamental science courses in the first year, followed by intensive basic engineering and technology courses. The language of instruction is Turkish, with one-third of the courses taught in English. Additionally, a one-year English preparatory education is provided.
Facilities and Resources
The department is equipped with:
- 17 research laboratories
- 6 student laboratories, each with a capacity of 25 students
- A computer laboratory with a capacity of 30 students
- A conference hall, amphitheater, and computer-equipped classrooms
- A small-scale food production facility
