Description of the Study

The study is a full-time program organized with physical gatherings and digital teaching on fixed days between gatherings. Student-active working methods are central to the study and will be prioritized at the gatherings. This means that teaching activities will require students to have worked on the theoretical material in advance.

Job Opportunities

After completing the study, you will be a primary school teacher with lecturer competence aimed at 1.-7. trinn in primary school. The education provides competence in knowledge dissemination, relationship building, and leadership, which is also important in school counseling, information work, communication consulting, adult education, and school management.

Structure of the Study

The study has five learning arenas: physical gatherings, digital teaching, work groups, individual work, and practice. The physical gatherings take place on campus in Harstad. In addition, there are two half-days of online teaching every week, and emphasis will be placed on developing competence in the use of digital tools and working methods.

Teaching and Examination

The teaching is based on principles from inverted teaching. This means that students work in groups or individually between gatherings to acquire subject matter so that they can participate actively in teaching activities and contribute to the learning community on gatherings.

Practice

As a master's student, you will receive practice training in primary school from the first year of study. You will be guided during the practice period so that you can develop your professional competence. During the four first years, you will complete at least 110 days of practice in primary school. You will have practice in the region for four to six weeks each academic year.

Language of Instruction and Examination

The language of instruction is Norwegian. In the English subject, teaching will be conducted in English.

Admission Requirements

• General study competence or realkompetanse.
• Krav til realkompetanse:
  • Sřker mĺ vćre minimum 25 ĺr (eller fylle 25 ĺr opptaksĺret).
  • Sřker mĺ ha relevant yrkeserfaring i minimum 5 ĺr omregnet til heltid.
  • Minimum 3 av 5 ĺr mĺ vćre relevant yrkeserfaring, men inntil 2 av de 5 ĺrene kan erstattes av:
    • Militćr-/siviltjeneste (fřrstegangstjeneste), inntil ett ĺr.
    • Relevant utdanning fra videregĺende skole, folkehřgskole eller tilsvarende.
    • Relevant arbeid (tillitsverv, organisasjonsarbeid, politisk arbeid)
    • Omsorgsarbeid for egne barn kan telle inntil ett ĺr totalt (ikke ett ĺr for hvert barn).
