The program in question is SAM-2031 Nordsamisk som fremmedsprĺk: Videregĺende sprĺkkurs, which translates to North Sami as a Foreign Language: Advanced Language Course.

Admission Requirements
To be admitted to this program, students must have general study competence or real competence. They must also have prior knowledge equivalent to one year of study in North Sami as a foreign language or Sami as a second language in upper secondary school.
Course Content
The course is a continuation of the content in the first year of study in North Sami as a foreign language. Students will produce their own texts, with a focus on sentence structure and general language practice. They will also delve into word derivation and its syntactic consequences. Additionally, students will work on sentence responses and infinite verb forms. They will practice translating texts in a contrastive perspective and will have oral presentations. The themes of the course are largely related to working life and community life.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the course, students will have the following learning outcomes:

- A good vocabulary
- Understanding of several North Sami dialects
- Knowledge of word derivation and infinite verb forms and sentence structure
- Knowledge of differences in Sami and Norwegian sentence structure

- Good written skills in North Sami
- Ability to speak and write about themes related to community and working life
- Ability to translate simple and somewhat more difficult texts into Sami
- Ability to use linguistic resources on the internet for help
Language of Instruction
The language of instruction is North Sami. The curriculum literature will be in North Sami.
Teaching Methods
The teaching will be given in the form of lectures, seminars, and group work at the Tromsř campus. Students who have academic support in a local language center can follow parts of the teaching via Zoom. The student must contact the language center in advance to arrange for academic follow-up.
Evaluation
All courses are evaluated once during the program period. The program board decides which courses will be evaluated by students and teachers each year.

Examination
The evaluation form is:
- Home exam, with a duration of one week
- Oral exam, with a duration of 20 minutes
Additional Information about Work Requirements
During the course, students must submit two mandatory written exercises and complete an oral presentation. The exercises must be submitted at fixed times and must be approved no later than two weeks before the exam.
Continuation Examination
A continuation examination will be arranged for students who did not pass the last ordinary examination in this course.
