The program in question is PFF-5015 Praksis del 1- praktisk pedagogisk utdanning, which is part of the practical-pedagogical education at UiT The Arctic University of Norway.
Program Description
This program is an obligatory part of the practical-pedagogical education and cannot be taken as a single course. The program focuses on two main themes:
- The first theme emphasizes the testing and basic mastery of central evaluation and work forms.
- The second theme focuses on the teacher as a leader of the class, responsible for developing the learning environment.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the program, students should have the following learning outcomes:
Knowledge and Understanding
- Experiential knowledge of planning, implementing, and evaluating teaching tailored to different student prerequisites
- Insight into the school's various learning arenas, design, and resources, including its social, cultural, and physical environment
Skills
- Ability to plan and implement tailored teaching and learning processes in accordance with curricula and legislation
- Use and justify different evaluation forms and criteria
- Appear as a clear class leader and contribute to a learning-promoting classroom environment
- Collaborate with student colleagues, mentors, other teachers, and management in teaching and other professional activities
- Use digital tools in teaching
Competence
- Reflect on subjects, teaching, and students' learning in light of current curricula
- Reflect on professional ethical perspectives and show a willingness and ability to respect the individual student's integrity
- Critically evaluate one's own and others' practices
- Build learning-promoting relationships and communicate well with students, fellow students, mentors, and other staff
Teaching and Examination Language

Teaching Methods
The program involves practical training.
Examination
The examination is a practice evaluation with a pass/fail grade.
- The following requirements must be met and approved before the examination:
- Active participation in all practice and meeting all requirements in the practice
- Following the teachers' normal working day and participating in various cooperation arenas
- Prepared plans for teaching hours as a basis for ongoing guidance
- Submitted a planning document before the practice visit from the university teacher
Continuation Examination
A student who receives a "fail" grade in the practice can make one new attempt to pass this practice period.
Responsible Unit
The responsible unit for this program is the Department of Teacher Education and Pedagogy.
