Program Overview
Program Description
The Forkurs for ingeniĝr- og sivilingeniĝrutdanning is a one-year program offered by UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The program is designed for candidates who lack general study competence and wish to qualify for admission to engineering studies.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Have passed and completed an approved trade or journeyman's examination
- Have passed VG1 and VG2 vocational subjects in Norwegian/Nordic upper secondary school
- Have real competence, which requires being 18 years or older in the admission year, documenting at least 5 years of full-time work experience and/or education above primary school level
- Have general study competence
Program Structure
The program consists of the following subjects:
- Mathematics: 408 hours
- Physics: 245 hours
- Norwegian: 218 hours
- English: 109 hours
- Technology and Society: 109 hours
The program is offered at several campuses, including Tromsĝ, Narvik, Alta, Kirkenes, and Hammerfest. The workload for the program is equivalent to a normal workweek, with consideration for on-campus instruction, in addition to individual effort.

- In Alta, the teaching takes place on campus as classroom instruction with 80% attendance requirement.

- In Tromsĝ, the teaching takes place in the Technology Building, with a focus on classroom instruction and dedicated teachers.
