Program Overview
The Ledelse program is a 2-year, 60-credit study offered by UiT The Arctic University of Norway. The program is designed to provide students with a fundamental introduction to important topics useful for current and future leaders.
Admission Requirements
- General study competence or real competence is required for admission.
- For real competence, applicants must have at least 5 years of work experience, which can be partially replaced by:
- Military or civilian service (up to 1 year)
- Relevant education from upper secondary school or equivalent
- Relevant unpaid work (trustee positions, organizational work, politics)
- Childcare work for own children (up to 1 year)
- Additional requirements include:
- Norwegian from Vg2 (upper secondary course I from Reform-94)
- English from Vg1 (basic course from Reform-94)
- Mathematics from Vg1 (basic course from Reform-94)
Application Deadline
The application deadline is April 15th, and March 1st for applicants with real competence.
Program Structure
The program consists of various subjects, including marketing, organization theory and leadership, work and organizational psychology, innovation, project management, corporate strategy, HRM, and leadership of small and medium-sized businesses. The subjects are tailored to cover leaders' needs to be aware of their surroundings, facilitate strategic development and innovation, and take care of human resources in a good way.
Learning Outcomes
After completing the study, students will have basic knowledge of leadership and how businesses function. They will understand how companies plan and implement strategies, how they are organized and managed, and how products and services are developed and marketed. Students will also have knowledge of how businesses can start, develop, and change in line with societal needs, such as sustainability, technology, and innovation.
Job Prospects
The target group is education seekers who aim for leadership positions and do not have other higher education in economics and administration. The study is also aimed at those who already hold leadership positions and want to take formal leadership training.
Access to Further Studies
The study can be part of the Bachelor's degree in Economics and Administration and the Bachelor's degree in Leadership, Innovation, and Marketing at the School of Business and Economics, UiT.
Language of Instruction
The language of instruction for the subjects in the program is mainly Norwegian, with some subjects offered only in English.
Teaching and Assessment
The program is a flexible online study, and there is no mandatory attendance at lectures. Lectures are streamed or published as videos via the subject's learning platform, Canvas. The program uses varied assessment forms, including school exams, multiple-choice questions, home exams, project work, and oral exams.
