Types of MPA Theses
The MPA program offers four types of theses: case analysis, research report, problem research, and policy analysis.
Case Analysis Thesis
A case analysis thesis involves an in-depth examination of a specific case or event in public management. The thesis should include:
- An introduction to the case, including its background, purpose, and significance
- A description of the case, including its context, events, and outcomes
- An analysis of the case, including its causes, consequences, and implications
- A conclusion that summarizes the findings and provides recommendations for future practice
The case analysis thesis should be at least 20,000 words in length and should follow the standard format for professional master's theses.
Research Report Thesis
A research report thesis involves an investigation of a specific topic or issue in public management. The thesis should include:
- An introduction to the research topic, including its background, purpose, and significance
- A literature review of relevant research on the topic
- A description of the research methodology and design
- A presentation of the research findings and analysis
- A conclusion that summarizes the findings and provides recommendations for future practice
The research report thesis should be at least 20,000 words in length and should follow the standard format for professional master's theses.
Problem Research Thesis
A problem research thesis involves an examination of a specific problem or issue in public management. The thesis should include:
- An introduction to the problem, including its background, purpose, and significance

All MPA theses should meet the following requirements:

- The thesis should include a title page, abstract, table of contents, introduction, literature review, methodology, findings, analysis, conclusion, and references
- The thesis should be written in a clear and concise manner, with proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- The thesis should be free of plagiarism and should properly cite all sources used in the research.
