Introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying with Honours
The Quantity Surveying programme in the School of Housing, Building and Planning, Universiti Sains Malaysia, was first introduced in the academic session 1999/2000. This programme is dynamic and comprehensive due to the exposure and appreciation of other related fields like Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, Planning, and Interior Design.
Programme Details
The aim of the programme is to equip graduates with knowledge that will enable them to pursue professionalism in this discipline and to be a registered quantity surveyor. It also offers an education that is recognised globally. The programme has full local recognition status obtained from the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM) and accreditation with the prestigious Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Pacific Association of Chartered Surveyors (PAQS), and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), allowing for global recognition and unlimited opportunities.

Alternative Intake Channel: USM +1 (Full Paying Fees)
This is a special intake channel for Malaysian students who have excellent academic qualifications but did not receive an offer for their preferred programme through the UPU application. The USM+1 programme is offered on a full-fee basis without subsidy, and applicants must understand the terms and conditions of admission and the tuition fees before applying.
Programme Accreditation
The programme has accreditation from three international bodies: the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Pacific Association of Quantity Surveyors (PAQS), and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), as well as local recognition from the Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia (BQSM). The programme uses Outcome-Based Education and blended learning, providing students with real project experiences that enhance their skills.
