Introduction to the Online MBA Programme

The Online MBA programme was established in 2006 and has gained a reputation for excellence in business and management education. The programme is designed to produce business leaders who can integrate knowledge and past experiences to address complex business situations holistically.


Programme Overview

The Online MBA at the Graduate School of Business (GSB), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), continues to attract students with high potential for achieving academic excellence from many nationalities and diverse backgrounds. The programme is student-centered and holistic, with innovative and interactive teaching methodologies.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the Online MBA programme, applicants must meet the following requirements:


  • A Bachelor's degree from a university recognized by the USM's Senate or an equivalent qualification:
    • A minimum CGPA of 2.75/4.00 or equivalent and a minimum of 1 year working experience; or
    • A minimum CGPA of 3.50/4.00 or equivalent (without working experience)
  • Individuals with working experience but lacking formal academic qualifications can apply for an Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) certificate.
  • English Language Requirements (applicable for international applicants only):
    • A minimum score of 60 for TOEFL (Internet-based); or
    • A minimum of Band 8.5 for TOEFL Essentials (Online); or
    • A minimum of Band 6 for IELTS; or
    • A minimum score of 59 for PTE; or
    • A minimum score for Cambridge English: Occupational English Test (OET) (Conventional/Online) min 250 /Advance (CAE)/Proficiency (CPE) /Preliminary (PET) /First (FCE)/Linguaskill Online min. score 169; or
    • A minimum score of 109 for ELS; or
    • A minimum of Band 4 for MUET
  • Exemptions can be given to candidates if English is their mother tongue or national language, or if they graduated from an institution of higher learning where the medium of instruction at Bachelor and/or Master degree level is English.

Fee Structure

The fee structure for the Online MBA programme is as follows:


  • Malaysian (MYR):
    • Registration fee: 120.00
    • Tuition Fee: 600.00 x 48 units = 28,800.00
    • Convocation fee: 200.00
  • International (USD):
    • Registration fee: 210.00
    • Tuition Fee: 250 x 48 units = 12,000.00
    • Personal Bond: 1,000.00
    • Convocation fee: 50.00 Note: Fees are subject to change.
