Introduction to the BSc (Hons) International Business and Finance Program
The BSc (Hons) International Business and Finance program at the University of Essex is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of international business practices and finance. The program is a three-year full-time course, with the option to take a placement year or study abroad. Placement Year
On a placement year, students gain relevant work experience within an external business or organisation, giving them a competitive edge in the graduate job market and providing them with key contacts within the industry.
Year Abroad
On the year abroad, students have the opportunity to experience other cultures and languages, to broaden their degree socially and academically, and to demonstrate to employers that they are mature, adaptable, and organised.
Teaching and Assessment
Undergraduate students at the Department of Essex Business School typically have 12 hours of teaching time per week. Teaching includes a combination of lectures, seminars, and computer-based lab sessions. Modules are delivered by experts in the field as well as guest speakers. Assessment is through traditional methods of end-of-year exams and multiple-choice questions in class tests and essays, as well as more innovative and creative assessments.
Fees and Funding
The home/UK fee is Ł9,790 per year, and the international fee is Ł22,600 per year. Fees will increase for each academic year of study. There may be scholarships, bursaries, or discounts available to help with the cost of the course.
Entry Requirements
The entry requirements for the program include:
- GCSE: Mathematics C/4
- A-levels: BBB - BBC or 120 - 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of 2 full A-levels
- BTEC: DDM - DMM or 120 - 112 UCAS tariff points from a minimum of the equivalent of 2 full A-levels
- IB: 30 - 29 points in the IB Diploma or 120 - 112 UCAS tariff points to include a minimum of 2 Higher Level subjects
- English language requirements: IELTS 6.0 overall, or specified score in another equivalent test
International and EU Entry Requirements
The University of Essex accepts a wide range of qualifications from applicants studying in the EU and other countries. International students who do not meet the English language or academic requirements for direct admission to this degree can prepare and gain entry through a pathway course at the University of Essex International College.
