Overview

The University of Essex offers a PhD in Data Science, a four-year research degree that combines skills and enhanced subject-specific research proposals to give students the best underpinning for their doctoral studies. The course is designed to support students who do not have English as a first language and may have been studying in a different country or out of a traditional academic environment for some time.

Entry Requirements

• A good Masters degree, or equivalent, in a related subject is required.
• A well-developed research proposal is also essential.
• Students will normally be required to attend an interview/Skype interview for acceptance, and acceptance is subject to research expertise in the department.

International & EU Entry Requirements

• The university accepts a wide range of qualifications from applicants studying in the EU and other countries.

English Language Requirements

• If English is not the first language, then an IELTS score of 5.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component is required.

• Studying and researching in the UK

The first year includes core and compulsory modules, and the next three years are spent conducting an individual research project.

• Ł5,238 per year
• Fees will increase for each academic year of study.

International Fee

• Ł20,625 per year
• Fees will increase for each academic year of study.
