PhD Speech and Language Therapy

Overview

The PhD in Speech and Language Therapy offers a unique opportunity to undertake research in a variety of health and organisational contexts. Based in the School of Health and Social Care, this program provides access to Masters-level research methods modules and the University's Proficio research training scheme. The PhD is available on a full-time or part-time basis, with a duration of 3-4 years for full-time students and 6 years for part-time students, plus up to a maximum of one year for completion.

  • A Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as a health science or social science.
  • Alternatively, advanced research skills developed through an alternative route.
  • A well-developed research proposal is essential.
  • Normally, attendance at an interview or Skype interview is required for acceptance, subject to research expertise in the department.

  • A wide range of qualifications from applicants studying in the EU and other countries are accepted.
