Postgraduate Certificate Musculoskeletal Practice

The Postgraduate Certificate Musculoskeletal Practice is a part-time program designed for experienced musculoskeletal practitioners who wish to advance their practice. The program is based in the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences at the University of Essex.

Overview

The program allows students to study flexibly, with a range of modules available to suit their professional needs. The modules cover topics such as clinical decision-making, injection therapy, and independent prescribing. Students can direct their learning to topics and regions of personal interest, with a great deal of flexibility within the pathway.

Entry Requirements

• Applicants should have a relevant first degree or relevant professional experience or qualifications that demonstrate the ability to study at Level 7.
• Applicants should have 3-5 years of postgraduate experience in the field of musculoskeletal health.
• Applicants should be experienced clinicians who are already working clinically in their area of practice at level 7.
• Applicants should be currently registered with the relevant UK or equivalent professional body.

International and EU Entry Requirements

English Language Requirements

If English is not the first language, applicants require IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum component score of 5.5 in all components.

The program consists of 60 credits, which can be made up through a choice of modules, including:

• SE714: Soft tissue and joint injection therapy (15 credits)
• SE715: Introduction to musculoskeletal ultrasound (15 credits)
• SE717: Advanced musculoskeletal assessment (15 credits)
• SE718: Skill extension for musculoskeletal injection practitioners (ultrasound guidance) (15 credits)
• SE721: Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in Professional Practice (Non-UK variant) (30 credits)
• SE729: Applying and Using Learning in Practice (15 credits)
• SE731: Leading Change in Healthcare (30 credits)
• SE761: First Contact Musculoskeletal Practice (30 credits)
• SE782: Verification of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Learning (30 credits)
