The Department of Political Science at Marquette University offers a major in Political Science, providing a strong foundation for further graduate or law study, as well as for careers in government or in non-governmental organizations which require an understanding of politics and public policy.

Course Work

The major requires 30 credits of undergraduate-level work. The Department offers course work in the following fields:

• Political Philosophy
• American Politics
• Comparative Politics
• International Politics

Course Requirements

Students are required to take two types of undergraduate courses: core courses and elective courses. Additionally, students have the ability to take:

• Upper-level undergraduate courses in the Department of Political Science for undergraduate credit
• "Cognate" courses outside the department
• Independent study courses designed by the student and the supervising professor
